Posture, Posture, Posture!

via

"A good stance and posture reflect a proper state of mind."        --Morihei Ueshiba

The picture says it all--back in the good ol' days girls were taught how to walk and stand with a book on their head, their mother coaching them as they went.  If they could do this without dropping the book, they knew their body was in its proper and most attractive position.

Take a look at the posture of today's girls.  Doesn't look good, does it?  We look more like lanky and uncoordinated monkeys than strong human beings...and we're supposed to be the more beautiful gender of the human race!

Girls aren't being taught how to walk or even stand anymore.  Where's the pride in your step?  Where's the celebratory walk in being strong, confident, and beautiful? Although people may say posture isn't all that important, no one could be more wrong.  Just like the clothes you wear, your posture sends the public a message about who you are as a person.  Slouch in your seat, people see a message in flashing yellow lights: I don't care, I can't do it, and I just want to disappear.  Sit tall and erect, and the brilliant flashing sign says: I care, I can do it, and I WILL do it.

Which message do you prefer?

Not only will you send a happier message to the world about the beautiful person you are, but you will also be helping your health in the process.  Health And Age says that "strong, solid posture is the backbone of feeling good and staying active," and Prevention Magazine states that "slumping posture can zap energy and make you look heavier, not to mention cause back pain and neck problems."{via}

So, all in all, which do you think is the better choice? God chose us out of all His other creatures on earth to stand upright, and to do otherwise is like spitting on that privilege.  Take pride and enjoyment in the fact you are human, and not only human, but a human woman!  What a gift!  You want to improve your self-image as well as the way you come across to others? Stand straight and walk tall--don't slump your shoulders and lean into your ribcage.  Your mind, body, and soul will thank you later and you won't regret it.  :)
